*_THE PRESENTATION OF THE LORD IN THE TEMPLE*_
_SUNDAY 02/02/2025_
READINGS (MAL 3:1-4, PS 24:7.8.9.10, HEB 2:14-18, LK 2:22-40)
*THEME : "LET'S DEDICATE OURSELVES ENTIRELY TO GOD"*
Dear beloved friends in Christ, today the Mother Church meditates on the fourth Joyful mystery. Forty days after the celebration of Christmas, in accordance with the Jewish tradition, the Church remembers the presentation of the newborn Jesus to the Temple. Joseph and Mary make a journey from Bethlehem to Jerusalem in order to fulfill the Law. There in the Temple they meet Simeon and Anna, the representatives of those who were looking forward to the coming of the Messiah.
These two holy Israelites recognise in the infant Jesus the Saviour and light of all nations. In the first reading Prophet Malachi presents the time of purification, the promises of Messiah's coming and redemption of all humanity. God comes to us, not to reprimand us, or to humiliate us nor even to Punish us. He becomes one of us and, through his holiness, makes us pure too.
The Gospel shows the fulfillment of this Promise, the law of Israel states that only the Mother must undergo the rite of purification after giving birth, but the gospel of today speaks of "their purification" (cf Lk 2:22). The Holy family goes to the Temple and even Jesus makes himself impure to accompany us where God will make us pure.
The second reading develops this theme. The son of God has chosen to be one of us and to share our human destiny. This is why Jesus can help us in our trials.
Dear beloved brethren, as we reflect on these readings, we are reminded of the significance of Jesus' presentation in the Temple, where He was recognized by Simeon and Anna as the Messiah. We are called to acknowledge Jesus as the Light of the World and to reflect His light in our lives.
Dear beloved people of God, the parents of Jesus dedicated their child to God in the Temple. Every year, this feast gives us the opportunity to reflect on the importance of dedicating ourselves entirely to the Lord. At our baptism we were given a lit candle representing the light of Christ and were told to keep that light burning brightly. We are to walk as people of the light, keeping alive in our heart the flame of faith and showing it to the world.
This feast of the Presentation of the Lord teaches us that not only was Christ the light of the world but that He remains so forever. His light shines not from the sky above but from within the hearts of His followers. Do we, by the example of our lives, show the light of Christ to others?
Dear beloved brethren, the readings of today remind us of the significance of Jesus' presentation in the Temple, where He was recognized by Simeon and Anna as the Messiah. We are called to acknowledge Jesus as the Light of the World and to reflect His light in our lives.
May we, like Simeon and Anna, cultivate faith and devotion, recognizing Jesus as the Messiah and the Light of the World. May we integrate faith into every aspect of our daily lives, being a light to others and reflecting Jesus' love and compassion.
As we celebrate the Presentation of the Lord, may we remember the importance of purification, redemption, and the destruction of the power of death. May we find meaning and significance in the rituals and traditions of our faith, and may we participate in them with a deeper understanding.
YESU JAI CONFIANCE EN TOI
BLESSED SUNDAY TO YOU ALL DEAR BELOVED BRETHREN AS WE REFLECT THE LIGHT OF JESUS CHRIST TO OTHERS AS THE REDEEMER OF ALL HUMANITY.
