Two Killed in Violent Incident in Buregeya Village, Kamwenge District.

Two people have been confirmed dead following a violent incident that occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 31 January 2026, in Buregeya 2 Village, Buregeya Ward, Nkoma–Katalyeba Town Council, Kamwenge District.

According to residents who spoke to our reporter led by Mutwe Village LC1 Chairperson Mr. Musherure Milton, the incident involved one Turinawe Darius, a resident of Mutwe Village, who was alleged to be mentally unstable.

Reports indicate that Darius had been taken by residents to Buregeya Village for prayers but later escaped during the night. While on the run, he encountered Kanyesigye Kenneth, also known as “ Omugiga weminwa.

It is alleged that Darius forcefully grabbed the panga from Kenneth and attacked him, inflicting fatal injuries that led to his death on the spot.

Shortly after the killing, residents reportedly mobilized and assaulted Darius, beating him to death.

Police officers from Rwamwanja Police Station were notified and later visited the scene.  

 *The bodies of both deceased persons were transported to Rwamwanja Health Centre IV for postmortem examinations as investigations into the matter continue.*
