A drama is unfolding in western Uganda where a law enforcement officer, Fortunate Kyarikunda, is facing jail time for allegedly refusing to marry her boyfriend, Richard Tumwiine, after he paid her law school fees. Tumwiine, a primary school teacher, claims he spent over Shs14 million on Kyarikunda's education, expecting her to become his wife. After completing her Diploma in Legal Practice, Kyarikunda reportedly backed out of the marriage plans, leading Tumwiine to take her to court. Kyarikunda was remanded to civil prison for failing to refund the money.
