BUDAKA — The National Resistance Movement - NRM has won 62 LC1 Chairperson positions unopposed in Budaka District, according to the party’s National Treasurer, Hon. Amb. Barbara Nekesa Oundo.
Amb. Nekesa Oundo made the announcement during an ongoing mobilisation drive in the Bukedi Sub-region, where the NRM is stepping up efforts to rally support ahead of the upcoming LC1 elections.
She said the 62 unopposed candidates reflect growing support for the party at the grassroots level in Budaka.
With those seats now secured, attention turns to the remaining contested positions. Voters in those villages are expected to head to the polls to elect leaders of their choice.
The LC1 elections are seen as a key test of party mobilisation ahead of the 2026 general elections.
