21-Year-Old Remanded to Luzira Over Murder of Bukoto Waitress

The City Hall Magistrates Court has remanded a 21-year-old woman to Luzira Prison over the alleged murder of her host, a former Bukoto bar waitress.

Patricia Rose Turindwamukama, a resident of Mukalazi Zone, Bukoto I Parish in Nakawa Division, appeared before Senior Principal Grade One Magistrate Nicholas Aisu on Monday, September 7, 2026.

She was charged with murder and aggravated robbery. The charges were read to her but she was not allowed to take plea, as capital offences can only be tried by the High Court.

What Prosecution Alleges:

Prosecution, led by State Attorney Mercy Yamangusho, told court that on the night of August 20, 2026, at Mukalazi Zone in Bukoto I, Turindwamukama and an accomplice who is still at large, with malice aforethought, murdered Jovia Namuwulya.

The duo is also accused of robbing the deceased of an iPhone 12 Pro Max valued at Shs 2 million, a handbag worth Shs 150,000, clothes valued at Shs 200,000 and a passport No. B00263181.

According to the charge sheet, a knife was used as a deadly weapon during the robbery before the victim was killed. The offences are contrary to Sections 266 and 267(2) of the Penal Code Act, Cap 128.

The state prosecutor said investigations are still ongoing.

Court has remanded Turindwamukama to the Luzira Women’s Wing until September 22, 2026.

Arrest Details:

Police arrested Turindwamukama on August 24, 2026, from a friend’s house in Mbuya, Nakawa Division, four days after the murder. Preliminary investigations indicate she had applied for a visa to Iraq on August 21, 2026.

Meanwhile, in a social media narration, the accused denied the murder charge, claiming that on the fateful night, she and the deceased slept with a man who was later robbed of cash by the deceased. She claims the man later came to their rental to demand his money and she fled after advising the deceased to return it in vain.
