Police in the Wamala Region have arrested three men and recovered two motorcycles that were stolen from a home in Kassanda District, after tracking the suspects using national CCTV footage.
According to police, the burglary happened on the night of *July 24, 2026*, at the home of *Benedicto Sentamu, 50*, in Kawungera LC I, Kawungera Parish, Kiganda Town Council, Kassanda District.
Investigators say the thieves drilled a hole through the garage wall, entered, and stole two motorcycles:
1. A red Bajaj Boxer - UGE 680G
2. Another motorcycle - UMA 661LZ
After taking the bikes, the suspects opened the main garage door from inside before riding off.
The matter was reported to Kiganda Police Station. Detectives visited the scene, recorded statements, and began analyzing footage from the national CCTV surveillance system.
How Police Tracked Them
Wamala Regional Police Spokesperson, *SSP Lameck Kigozi*, said CCTV analysis led officers to trace the motorcycles to Kyengera Town Council in Wakiso District
An operation there led to the recovery of both bikes and the arrest of three suspects.
The suspects were identified as:
1. James Ssebuggwawo, 50 - resident of Nakiganda LC I, Kyamusota Ward, Kiganda Town Council, Kassanda District
2. Edward Kavuma, 31 - casual laborer from Kiyunga, Mukono District
3. Yawe Musisi, 32 - boda boda rider from Nsangi, Wakiso District
Current Status
The suspects and the recovered motorcycles were transferred to Kiganda Police Station and are still in custody.
Police say investigations are ongoing and the case file is being finalized before it is sent to the Resident State Attorney in Kassanda for sanction. The suspects face charges of *housebreaking and motorcycle theft.
Police Comment
SSP Kigozi credited the CCTV network for helping solve the case quickly.
_"The use of CCTV technology has greatly strengthened our ability to investigate crime and apprehend suspects. Criminals should know that their chances of evading justice continue to diminish,"_ he said.
He also warned the public against crime and urged citizens to respect the law.
Police added that investigations are still ongoing to determine if more people were involved
