A 77-year-old woman who died while traveling from Kasese Town to Bwera has been identified as Marishelina Masika.
Masika was a resident of Kihumuro Village in Nalutundu Sub-county, Kassanda District. She was on her way to Sessele Cell, Nyakahya Ward in Mpondwe Lhubiriha Town Council to attend a relative’s burial when the incident occurred on Thursday morning.
According to passengers, the driver only realized something was wrong when he asked her to pay fare. He immediately alerted police. Officers responded, retrieved the body and took it to Bwera General Hospital mortuary.
A hospital source said a note with Pastor Yiga’s phone number was found in her laptop bag. After calling the pastor, it was confirmed that Masika had traveled all the way from Kassanda to attend the burial in Sessele Cell.
