President Yoweri Museveni has revealed new details about the final months of the life of the late Tooro King, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, saying the monarch had been battling a serious illness before his death at the age of 34.

According to Museveni, Queen Mother Best Kemigisa informed him several months ago that her son was experiencing severe health challenges. The disclosure came as the country mourned the death of the young monarch, whose passing has been described as a major loss to the Tooro Kingdom and Uganda. (
Museveni said that after learning about the King's condition, the government supported efforts to obtain specialised medical treatment outside Uganda. The King reportedly received treatment in Germany before continuing his medical care in the United States, where he eventually died.

King Oyo's Health Became a Major Concern
The late monarch had reportedly been seriously ill for some time. Museveni said Queen Mother Kemigisa reached out to him months earlier to explain the situation surrounding her son's health.
The President later disclosed that the King had been battling an aggressive form of cancer. The illness required specialised medical attention, leading to efforts to seek treatment abroad.

Museveni Pays Tribute to the Late King
President Museveni has described King Oyo's death as a painful loss for both Tooro and Uganda.
In his message of condolence, Museveni reflected on the King's difficult childhood, noting that Oyo lost his father at a very young age and later died while still relatively young himself.
The President also praised the late monarch for his relationship with government institutions and said he had demonstrated potential to contribute further to the development of Tooro.
