Uganda Losing Over Shs7 Trillion Every Year to Road Accidents, Experts Warn.

Road safety experts are calling for urgent reforms in Uganda’s transport sector, saying crashes are draining over Shs7 trillion from the economy each year and killing thousands.

They blame poor enforcement of traffic laws, reckless driving, and gaps in regulation for the rising toll on Ugandan roads.

The recent Kapchorwa school bus accident, which claimed the lives of 20 pupils and 1 adult, has renewed calls for action. Advocates say the tragedy should be a wake-up call for government to tighten road safety measures and prevent more preventable deaths.
