Kamwenge:A five year old girl murdered and buried by her aunt's husband.

Residents of Nkarakara Cell, Kahunge Town Council, Kamwenge District, have lynched a man, Bagonza Peter, after accusing him of abducting and burying a five-year-old girl, Mary Cynthia, alive. The incident occurred after Peter reportedly failed to locate his wife at her parents' home and instead abducted Cynthia, his wife's niece, around 1 AM.

According to Goretti Kyomugabe, Peter's mother-in-law, he forcefully entered their home, causing the family to flee, before taking the child. A community-led search, headed by LCI Chairperson Ndagyijimaana John, found Cynthia buried near Peter’s residence.

Police initially arrested Peter, but he escaped from custody. Enraged residents apprehended and killed him. The LCI chairperson noted Peter had shown signs of mental instability, potentially linked to a brain condition.

District Councilor Robert Namara condemned the mob justice, urging residents to report suspects and individuals with mental health issues to authorities. He called for calm and lawful conduct in the community.

Police confirmed the incident and stated investigations are ongoing.
