Uganda’s popular Nyege Nyege Festival is returning to Kalagala Falls on the River Nile from November 19 to 22, 2026, bringing together hundreds of artists and thousands of music and culture enthusiasts for four days of entertainment, creativity and cultural celebration.

The 11th edition of the festival is expected to feature more than 200 artists performing across seven stages. The programme will bring together different musical styles from Uganda, East Africa and beyond, making the event one of the major entertainment gatherings on Uganda’s cultural calendar.
This year’s festival is also taking a different approach by combining music with filmmaking through a special collaboration with Wakaliwood, Uganda’s internationally recognised independent film movement. Parts of the festival grounds are expected to be transformed into a live film set where scenes for a new production will be recorded during the event.
The collaboration is expected to give festivalgoers a unique opportunity to experience filmmaking while enjoying live music and other forms of entertainment. Some performers and attendees may also become part of the film production, creating an unusual connection between Uganda’s music and film industries.
Several Ugandan performers have already been announced as part of the festival programme, including King Saha, Sheila Gashumba, Etania, Linus and Abeeka Band. The festival will also feature electronic music, reggae, live performances, traditional sounds and other contemporary genres.
Beyond music, the 2026 edition is expected to showcase fashion, visual arts, comedy, film and adventure activities around the River Nile. Organisers are also planning an expanded camping village designed to accommodate visitors who want to remain at the festival grounds throughout the event.
Another major feature will be the African Electronic Music Conference, scheduled to take place from November 17 to 19. The conference is expected to bring together artists, music industry professionals, promoters, labels and cultural organisations to discuss developments and opportunities within Africa’s growing music industry.
The return of Nyege Nyege to Kalagala Falls highlights Uganda’s growing role as a destination for international music and cultural events. By bringing together music, film, art and tourism, the festival is expected to provide a platform for African creativity while attracting visitors from Uganda and other parts of the world.
As preparations continue, attention is now turning to the final programme, participating artists and activities planned for the four-day celebration. With more than 200 artists and the added Wakaliwood film experience, Nyege Nyege 2026 is set to bring a distinctive combination of music, cinema, culture and adventure to the banks of the River Nile.
