Upon reaching Karuziika Palace in Fort Portal, the remains of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV will be formally received by the royal leadership and cultural authorities as Tooro Kingdom continues its official mourning programme.

The King’s remains will lie in state at Karuziika Palace, giving members of the public, Batooro subjects, dignitaries and well-wishers an opportunity to pay their final respects to the late monarch.
During the mourning period, evening prayers and other religious and cultural ceremonies will be held at the palace. Members of the Royal Family, Batooro subjects, religious leaders and other mourners will gather to honour King Oyo and pray for the repose of his soul.
The nine-day mourning period will culminate in the King’s burial at the Karambi Royal Tombs in Fort Portal on September 12, 2026, following a funeral service at St John’s Cathedral.
