Kamwenge District Executive Committee, under the stewardship of Hon. Joseph Karungi Omugabuzi, has paid tribute to His Majesty Dr. Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, the King of Tooro Kingdom.
During an Executive Committee sitting held today, district leaders reflected on the long-standing cordial relationship between Kamwenge District and the Tooro Kingdom, recognizing the King’s contribution to the social and economic development of the district.
The committee resolved that Kamwenge District will comprehensively highlight and document the transformative achievements and enduring contributions of King Oyo, particularly his impact on the socio-economic development of the district and the wider Tooro community.
Kamwenge Delegation to Visit Karuziika Palace
The committee further resolved that a high-level delegation from Kamwenge District will travel to Karuziika Royal Palace on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, to convey the district’s respect, condolences and solidarity to the Kingdom.
The delegation will comprise the official district team. However, the district has indicated that the visit will remain open to willing members of the greater Kamwenge community who wish to join in paying homage to the late King.
The planned visit is expected to provide an opportunity for district leaders and residents to stand in solidarity with the Tooro royal family and the people of the Kingdom during this period of mourning.
King Oyo's passing has prompted tributes from communities, institutions and leaders across Uganda, with many reflecting on his years of service and his role in promoting development, unity and cultural heritage.
As Kamwenge prepares for the visit to Karuziika Palace, the district says it remains committed to preserving and documenting the King’s legacy and the relationship between the district and Tooro Kingdom.
