Ibanda North NRM Flag Bearer Maj. David Guma Gumisiriza Urges Supporters to Remain Calm as Tribunal Decision Nears.

Ibanda North NRM flag bearer, Maj. David Guma Gumisiriza, has called for calm and patience among his supporters as they await the verdict from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) tribunal regarding a petition filed by the incumbent Member of Parliament, Hon. Kyooma Xavier Akampurira.

The petition, which was recently heard by the tribunal, alleges electoral malpractice, forgery, and delays in the election exercise. Hon. Kyooma has challenged the legitimacy of the results, accusing the Ibanda District NRM office of prematurely and unfairly declaring Maj. Guma as the winner under questionable circumstances.

Speaking to our reporter, Maj. Guma Gumisiriza noted that the tribunal had given both parties an opportunity to be heard and emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and patience as the process concludes.

Maj. Guma also expressed confidence in the outcome, stating that the elections in Ibanda North were conducted peacefully, and he is optimistic that the tribunal will uphold his victory.

The Ibanda District NRM Registrar, Ms. Gloria Ninsiima, officially declared Maj. David Guma Gumisiriza the winner of the Ibanda North NRM parliamentary primary after he garnered 15,215 votes, defeating the incumbent Hon. Kyooma Xavier Akampurira, who received 14,445 votes.
